My First Class Party

And I survived! Not only that, but it was even fun! Of course the kids were a little crazy, but mostly sweet, and I was overwhelmed with their generosity to me!!! A "D" wine glass? How amazing is that? And I popped open a diet coke and drank out of it right there in class, too. It was fantastic. But in all seriousness, I'm slowly falling for these little guys....my cup runneth over.

Happy Halloween!

Two X Wing Fighter Pilots and a Super Scary Witch!

A College Student!

Tricks or Treats!

Perhaps a little sensory overload.

Trunk or Treat!

Headed home...tired boys!

Crazy.  That's all.  Just Crazy.

See what I mean?  Crazy, right?
If I didn't know better, I would have thought we were on a hidden camera TV show tonight. We were beyond dysfunctional, and now that the evening is over, I can laugh about it.

First, the costumes. We had major costume malfunctions going on left and right at the Scroggins house. I had two X Wing Fighter Pilots (for you Star Wars Fans out there), and those costumes came with straps and Velcro that took a Master's degree to figure out (literally.) Secondly, there was a helmet issue. The masterful packers of the online costume store very productively packed two right sides to the X Wing helmet, instead of a left and right side. Being that my husband is a great problem solver, we made due with the helmet, but it was tense for a good thirty minutes. While the Star Wars Costume dilemma was occurring, I was frantically trying to make up a witch, with JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT of glitter. Not too much, and not too little. The Pressure. Once we finally were dressed and headed out the door, it took a minute to snag a picture. WHEN will my children quietly stand and pose for a picture? You'd think I have beat them down enough by now that they would be trained, but nope-my husband and I are still doing everything but dancing like a monkey to get them to not only LOOK at the camera, but also have a pleasant look on their face at the same time. I snapped as many as I could, and hoped for the best. As we loaded the car, spooky fingernails popped off the Witch, an X Wing Pilot's belt unvelcroed, and I dang near dropped my fancy Fall Punch all over the driveway.

Whew.

We made it to Grandma House #1 for Tricks and Treats, OOOS and AAHHHS, and talked a couple kids off a ledge when Grandma wasn't quite sure the difference in a Storm Trooper and an X Wing Pilot, or a Vampire and a Witch. Assured they looked fantastic, we went on to Grandma House #2, and the same routine for Tricks and Treats. Back in the car, we finally headed to our Halloween Destination just in time to make the rounds with all the Crew for even more Treats-no tricks this time.

They were off before we even closed the door to the truck. The older kids literally sprinted from house to house, frantically filling their buckets to near overflowing with candy. We managed to reign them in at a house or two, much to their dismay. Apparently, it's super cool to be on your own WITHOUT parents during the Tricks and Treats. Really? But I thought we were such fun parents!

After a quick breeze by a Trunk or Treat, we settled down to cheer on the Rangers, and the kids gazed at their stash...a successful night despite the Crazy it started with. Now, Go Rangers!

I'm beat!

Pumpkins at Gran's!!!!

Yesterday was the annual pumpkin event at Gran's House, complete with mummy dogs, Apple bobbing, and a pumpkin pinata. Madison's curse might have even been lifted because she was able to carve her own pumpkin without it breaking. Both big kids did almost their entire pumpkins themselves....amazing how that getting bigger thing keeps happening year after year. There was of course still some injustice about "fairness" here and there, but I guess that's just part of the process. It doesn't seem fair to me...I just want love and joy all around. :) Good day overall though. Good times with the pumpkins.

Happy Halloween!

Princess Leia & finally a Storm Trooper!

Bad Santa & Lincecum!

Mrs. Robinson & The Graduate!

Raising Arizona!

Sonny & Cher!

Practical Magic & Moses!

The Girls!

The Guys!
Relaxing with a TROOPER!  May the force be with us.  :)
The Planners!
Our second Grown-Up Halloween Party was a success!  Our theme this year was "Movie Characters."  how Superfun is that??  Todd jumped at the chance to be a Storm Trooper, and after a little online research, we found a costume for less than $650, and a Leia to go along with it. Crystal and I have this party hostessing down to a science.  :)  Especially when everyone brings their own snacks and drinks!  But the best part of the eveing?  THE RANGERS WON!!  The entire group journeyed outside for the last few innings, held their collective breath as we watched those last minutes tick by, and cheered loud enough that the Ballpark in Arlington might have been the only rival.  High fives, claws, and antlers all around.  Who else can say they spent the night the Rangers clinched their First World Series with a Storm Trooper, Moses, Sonny, The Graduate, and a Bad Santa...just to name a few.  Super Fun Night...Super Fun Friends...and a Super Fun Week ahead...

Pumpkin Pics 2010!

We escaped our weekly routine last Thursday, and ran out to the Decatur pumpkin patch with a few friends to celebrate October.  I love a good pumpkin patch, and the one here in Decatur suits me just wonderfully.  The kids had a great time in the jumphouse, on the hayride, and running through the corn maze.  I had a great time with a few girlfriends watching the kids run wild.  The husbands had a great time not having to go to the patch (or so they've told me).    We topped off the evening with a hotdog and smore roast around a campfire, and I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful Fall Festival-just our style.  God Bless us Every One.
Even if they are crazy.
