We took a scenic route today and stopped through New Orleans. Todd wanted to go to the new WWII Museum, and we thought we could show the kids the French Quarter.
The Museum was amazing, and all three kids really did learn about the war, understand more about our Country during that time, and gain respect for our Military. Tanner was the most taken with the details of the exhibit and actually took longer than Todd to read through the information.
After leaving the Museum we headed to Jackson Square where Todd immediately fell victim to a street vendor, as usual. Madison was second in line when a "gold" street performer singled her out to say hello. All there kids had wide eyes and open mouths as we walked down the streets taking in the culture of the City. We taught many lessons on self expression, arts and the like, but Madison still wondered aloud at one point asking why she needed to learn "everything," She also declared she would not be back to party on Bourbon without us. I'll cross my fingers for that one.
Despite the fact that we quickly decided a New Orleans walkabout wasn't the most wholesome of family outings, it was a great afternoon...and hopefully all the good of New Orleans will seep in more than the crazy.
Oh! And Madison did enjoy her first daiquiri at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville .
